Description

The Komatsu PC09 is an extra-compact micro-excavator in the 1-tonne class, with exactly the right power and digging force for working in tight spaces. It suits work inside buildings, small demolition jobs, planting and irrigation systems in gardens, and in general any job site where a bigger machine can’t work or even be transported. Compared with the PC16R, it is a smaller and lighter machine, suited to the very smallest jobs.

In the model name, PC stands for Komatsu’s crawler excavators, and the number 09 refers to the size class of under one tonne.

Komatsu PC09 specifications and weight:

The PC09-1 has an engine power of 6.8 kW (9.1 hp), an operating weight of 880–1,080 kg, a digging depth of 1.47 m and a bucket capacity of 0.016–0.025 m³. For full dimensions and technical data, see the data sheet or the supplier’s PC09-1 product page, and explore more options among Komatsu’s mini excavators.

The undercarriage has variable width, adjusted hydraulically from the operator’s seat. It can be extended for maximum stability while digging, and narrowed to under one metre to pass through narrow passages and doors. The hydraulic system gives smooth, shock-free movements, even when several are used at once, for precise work.

The machine has a cast body that is rigid and robust, and a metal bonnet that extends service life and reduces repair costs after a knock. The boom is a seamless tube that houses the hydraulic hoses, keeping the digging area easy to see. A safety lock lever, low noise levels and a recycling-oriented design are also part of the package.

The bonnet opens fully and all inspection points are easy to reach. Greasing intervals are long, making maintenance simpler and quicker.

For more power and capacity, the PC16R represents a natural step up.

Operating a mini excavator requires proper training. Hesselberg offers a heavy equipment operator course for certification and skills development.

As a supplier of Komatsu in Norway, Hesselberg offers the full model range, along with a wide selection of excavators for different types of construction work.
