Description
The Komatsu PC50MR is a compact 5-tonne-class short-tail mini excavator designed for confined areas such as yards, road works, demolition sites and sewer trenches. It has a tight tail swing radius and a swing boom that hugs the machine, giving more room to work. Compared with the PC38MR, it has higher engine power, greater digging depth, higher operating weight and a larger bucket capacity, and suits more demanding digging jobs.
In the model name, PC stands for Komatsu’s crawler excavators, and the number 50 refers to the size class of around 5 tonnes.
Komatsu PC50MR specifications and weight:
The PC50MR-5 has an engine power of 29.1 kW (39 hp), an operating weight of 4,930 kg, a digging depth of 3.705 m and a bucket capacity of 0.055–0.16 m³. For full dimensions and technical data, see the data sheet or the supplier’s PC50MR-5 product page, and explore more options among Komatsu’s mini excavators.
Komatsu states that the PC50MR-5 uses up to five percent less fuel than its MR-3 predecessors, with no loss of performance or productivity. An auto decelerator and idle shutdown are standard, along with the first proportional hydraulic line. The machine has newly developed hydraulic electronic controls and selectable working modes.
The hydraulic system is a CLSS (Closed-centre Load Sensing System) with a variable displacement pump. It delivers power, speed and precise control for all movements, even when several are used at once, regardless of load or rpm. The boom and arm cylinders have dedicated hose burst valves.
A high-definition 3.5-inch LCD monitor gives excellent visibility, showing alerts, machine information, operation records, settings and maintenance data in a simple format. It is little affected by viewing angle or ambient brightness.
The engine bonnets open wide for quick access to daily inspection points. The fuel and hydraulic oil tanks sit under the side bonnet in a safe, easy-to-reach position, and the cab tilts back for major maintenance. With Komtrax, Komatsu’s wireless monitoring system, you can track the machine, monitor its performance and stay up to date on its status.
For more power and capacity, the PC55MR represents a natural step up. For zero-emission work in smaller weight classes, see the electric Komatsu PC20E–PC33E.
Operating a mini excavator requires proper training. Hesselberg offers a heavy equipment operator course for certification and skills development.
As a supplier of Komatsu in Norway, Hesselberg offers the full model range, along with a wide selection of excavators for different types of construction work.
