Description

The Komatsu WA380-8 is a wheel loader that combines stability, breakout power and tractive effort. It is built for tough digging tasks and suits carrying pipe, sand and other aggregates, site clean-up and support, digging into piles and backfilling. In the model name, 380 refers to the model series and -8 indicates the model generation.

According to the Komatsu WA380-8 product page, the machine has a 143 kW (192 hp) engine, an operating weight of 18.5–20 tonnes and a tipping load of 15.5 tonnes. Bucket capacity is 3.2–6.5 m³. The WA380-8 is part of the range of Komatsu wheel loaders at Hesselberg.

The engine meets EU Stage V. The machine has a large-capacity torque converter with standard lock-up, which gives strong tractive effort when digging and filling the bucket. Komatsu states that the machine has one of the highest breakout forces in its class. A wide tread and long wheelbase give good stability, and the machine has superior dumping height and reach. Komatsu SmartLoader Logic, the E-Light engine mode, high-efficiency buckets and adjustable idle shutdown help reduce fuel consumption.

The machine has Electronic Pilot Control (EPC) as standard, an automatic digging system and an intelligent gas pedal. Komatsu offers a wide range of buckets and attachments, including a universal bucket, an earthmoving bucket, a stockpile bucket with raised bottom, a mulch grab bucket and a high-dump bucket, and the machine has a hydraulic quick coupler. Tailored solutions are also available for salt and chemical applications, waste and recycling, tunnel and underground work, and port and harbour work.

The operator gets a new air-suspended seat, a large multifunctional monitor and a low-noise cab. The machine has a rear-view camera and steps for cleaning the front window. A 4-point seat belt and an additional rear counterweight are available as options. The radiator is wide-core with an auto-reverse fan, the engine doors open gull-wing style, and the machine has a factory-fitted automatic lubrication system. Komtrax is Komatsu’s wireless monitoring system, which makes it easy to track your machine’s location, performance and status.

If you need a slightly smaller machine, take a look at the WA320-8. The WA380-8 has higher engine output (143 kW vs 127 kW), tipping load (15.5 t vs 11.74 t) and operating weight (18.5–20 t vs 15.7–16.56 t). If you need even more capacity, take a look at the WA470-8.

If you will be operating the machine yourself, you can read more about our heavy equipment operator course.
