Description
The Komatsu WA485-11 is a wheel loader that combines new engine technology with Komatsu’s Hydraulic Mechanical Transmission (HMT) for high productivity and low fuel consumption. In the model name, 485 refers to the model series and -11 indicates the model generation.
According to the Komatsu WA485-11 product page, the machine has a 271 kW (363 hp) engine, an operating weight of 27.94–28.85 tonnes and a tipping load of 22.095 tonnes. Bucket capacity is 4.8–5.8 m³. The WA485-11 is part of the range of Komatsu wheel loaders at Hesselberg.
The engine meets EU Stage V and delivers high torque at lower rpm. Komatsu states reduced fuel consumption and emissions, and the machine has features such as eco and power modes, the Komatsu traction control system (K-TCS) and the Load Pilot weighing system with efficiency guidance. The machine has massive lifting power and breakout force, and the driveline and work equipment are controlled independently. Buckets with raised or flat bottoms are available, and high-dump and light material buckets are available as options.
The machine has an aggregate handling specification. According to Komatsu, it delivers fast, efficient loading and can load 28-tonne trucks in three passes.
The cab is new and designed with a focus on ergonomics. It has a fully digital dashboard, a comfort operator seat, a keyless starting system and a travel speed control dial. A feedback joystick steering system and an operator assistance system are available as options.
The machine has an HD rear-view camera, coloured steps and handrails, full LED working lights and steps for cleaning the front window. A rear object detection system is available as an option. The engine hood is one-piece and tiltable, the radiator is wide-core with an auto-reverse fan, and the machine has a factory-fitted automatic lubrication system. Daily service points are easy to reach from the ground. Komtrax is Komatsu’s wireless monitoring system, which makes it easy to track your machine’s location, performance and status.
If you need slightly less engine output and tipping load, take a look at the WA475-11, which has 257 kW and a 20.345-tonne tipping load. The WA485-11 has higher engine output (271 kW vs 257 kW), tipping load (22.095 t vs 20.345 t) and operating weight (27.94–28.85 t vs 24.74–26.68 t).
