Description
The Komatsu WA600-8 is a wheel loader that combines stability, breakout power and tractive effort, with a focus on fuel efficiency and environmental performance. In the model name, 600 refers to the model series and -8 indicates the model generation.
According to the Komatsu WA600-8 product page, the machine has a 396 kW (530 hp) engine, an operating weight of 54.17–56.74 tonnes and a tipping load of 36.1 tonnes. Bucket capacity is 6.4–7.8 m³. The WA600-8 is part of the range of Komatsu wheel loaders at Hesselberg.
The engine meets EU Stage V, and Komatsu states up to 13% lower fuel consumption. The engine has features such as high-pressure common rail fuel injection, cooled EGR and a variable geometry turbo (VGT). The aftertreatment system with KDPF and SCR (AdBlue) reduces NOx emissions by 80% compared with EU Stage IIIB engines. Regeneration of the particulate filter happens automatically, without interrupting work. Komatsu SmartLoader Logic adapts engine torque to each work phase and reduces fuel use without reducing production.
The machine has a large-capacity torque converter with standard lock-up, which gives high rimpull at low speeds and good productivity in V-shape loading, even in confined spaces. Sequential lock-up gives better productivity and lower fuel consumption in load-and-carry and short-distance transport. The CLSS hydraulic system gives precise control of the work equipment, and variable-displacement pumps on both the work and steering hydraulics deliver only the oil required. The machine has a dumping height of 3,915 mm and a reach of 1,885 mm (with a 7.0 m³ bucket, measured to the cutting edge). New high-efficiency buckets and the automatic digging system make work easier, reduce operator fatigue and give good bucket fill.
The cab is a wide Komatsu SpaceCab with an air-suspended, heated and ventilated operator seat and an integrated EPC lever console. The operator has a large multifunctional colour monitor with eco guidance, a rear-view camera and proportional controls for attachments as standard. The machine also has an intelligent gas pedal, a variable traction control system and auto-kickdown. An Advanced Joystick Steering System (AJSS) is described in Komatsu’s brochure.
For servicing, the machine has large side-opening double swing engine doors, a wide-core modular radiator and a reversible fan that blows dust out of the radiator. Service points are easy to reach, and the AdBlue tank is easy to access. Komtrax Plus gives expanded monitoring of the machine with data on fuel consumption and utilisation, among other things.
If you need a smaller machine, take a look at the WA500-8. The WA600-8 has higher engine output (396 kW vs 266 kW), tipping load (36.1 t vs 26.775 t) and operating weight (54.17–56.74 t vs 34.875–36.13 t).
