Description
The HB365LC-3 is a hybrid crawler excavator from Komatsu built for contractors who need heavy capacity and high productivity without compromising on fuel costs or emissions.
HB stands for Hybrid. 365 refers to the weight class of around 36 tonnes. The hybrid system works by capturing kinetic energy when the upper structure slows down during swing braking and converting it into electrical energy. This energy is stored in an ultra-capacitor and used to power the electric swing motor or to assist the diesel engine during acceleration. The result is up to 30 percent lower fuel consumption compared to conventional machines in the same class, combined with lower noise levels and reduced CO2 emissions.
The machine is powered by the same 202 kW engine as the PC360LC-11, with up to 53 kW of additional electric power supplied by the hybrid system. This means it delivers the same or greater productivity than a conventional 36-tonne excavator, while significantly reducing operating costs over long working sessions.
The HB365LC-3 is particularly well suited to earthmoving, road construction and infrastructure projects where the machine is in continuous operation with frequent swing movements. It is precisely in those conditions that the hybrid technology has the greatest impact on fuel consumption.
Compared to the PC360LC-11, which uses the same engine, the HB365LC-3 offers a substantially lower cost per tonne of material moved over time, making it the stronger economic choice for high-intensity, long-duration projects. The six selectable working modes allow the operator to match performance to the task, and KomVision provides all-round visibility on the jobsite. KOMTRAX telematics and the Komatsu CARE maintenance programme are standard.
You can find the full range of Komatsu excavators at Hesselberg. Operating the HB365LC-3 requires a machine operator's licence, typically class M2. Hesselberg offers heavy equipment operator courses for certification and skills development.
