Description

The PC170LC-11 is a crawler excavator from Komatsu built for contractors who need reliable capacity and efficiency across a wide range of construction tasks.

PC stands for Power Crawler. 170 refers to the weight class of around 18 to 21 tonnes depending on equipment configuration. As a crawler excavator the machine provides high stability and solid ground contact on demanding terrain and soft ground, making it suited for conditions where wheeled excavators cannot operate.

The operating weight ranges from 18,300 to 21,455 kg depending on boom configuration and shoe width. The machine is powered by a 90 kW Stage V engine and is available with a choice of mono boom or two-piece boom, and three arm lengths of 2,250 mm, 2,600 mm and 2,900 mm. Digging force is 115 kN, rising to 125 kN with PowerMax active. Maximum bucket capacity is 0.94 m³. Fuel consumption is up to 3 percent lower than the previous generation.

Compared to the PC138US, a compact short-tail crawler aimed at confined and urban jobsites, the PC170LC-11 offers higher engine output, greater digging force and more bucket capacity for heavier work. Compared to the PC210LC-11, a heavier standard crawler in the 21-tonne class, the PC170LC-11 is a more fuel-efficient option when its somewhat lower capacity is sufficient for the task.

The PC170LC-11 is well suited to trenching, utility work, earthmoving, grading and light blasted rock. The two-piece boom option provides extra reach and flexibility on jobsites where it is necessary to dig over obstacles or work in tight configurations. The machine is factory-prepared for a hydraulic quick coupler and delivered tiltrotator-ready.

You can find the full range of Komatsu excavators at Hesselberg. Operating the PC170LC-11 requires a machine operator's licence, typically class M2. Hesselberg offers heavy equipment operator courses for certification and skills development.
