Description

The PC220LC-12 is a crawler excavator from Komatsu in the upper part of the standard class, built for contractors who need high productivity combined with precision and low operating costs.

PC stands for Power Crawler. 220 refers to the weight class of around 22 to 25 tonnes. The operating weight ranges from 24,000 to 24,885 kg depending on configuration. The machine is powered by a 129 kW Stage V engine and has a maximum bucket capacity of 1.8 m³.

The PC220LC-12 is one of Komatsu's next-generation excavators and introduces the new Power Plus mode, delivering up to 18 percent higher productivity and up to 18 percent lower fuel consumption compared to the PC210LC-11. The machine is factory-equipped with 2D machine control, a 2D virtual safety wall, a payload meter and a rollover avoidance system as standard features, providing precision without the need for additional retrofitting. Fully programmable electronic control levers and an operator ID system that stores up to 50 profiles allow each operator to work with personalised settings.

The machine is available in two variants. The PC220LC-12 is the standard model with all of the above systems. The PC220LCi-12 additionally includes Komatsu's intelligent Machine Control 3.0, which automatically limits digging below and above the target surface and adds advanced features such as 3D Boundary, Auto Swing, Swing To Line and tiltrotator integration. For PC220LC-12 owners, a factory upgrade kit provides a straightforward path to iMC 3.0 functionality, keeping the investment future-proof.

Compared to the PC170LC-11, a lighter crawler in the 18 to 21-tonne class, the PC220LC-12 offers higher engine output, greater bucket capacity and more reach for heavier work. The closed-centre load-sensing hydraulic system with pressure compensation and electronically controlled valves delivers fast, precise response with zero-lag feedback. KomVision provides real-time all-round visibility, and KOMTRAX 4G telematics is standard for operational monitoring and planned maintenance.

You can find the full range of Komatsu excavators at Hesselberg. Operating the PC220LC-12 requires a machine operator's licence, typically class M2. Hesselberg offers heavy equipment operator courses for certification and skills development.
