Description
The PC490HRD-11 is a heavy-duty crawler excavator from Komatsu, built for the most demanding demolition and remediation projects. Compared to the PC390HRD-11, it offers greater capacity, longer reach and significantly higher operating weight, providing extra stability and lifting power on large-scale projects.
With an operating weight ranging from around 55,200 kg up to 75,830 kg depending on configuration, the machine is powered by a 270 kW engine. It can handle demolition tools up to 5,000 kg in medium reach configuration, and is available in six different boom arrangements covering high reach, extended high reach and ground-level excavation work. The HydrauMind closed-centre load-sensing hydraulic system delivers precise control and stable operation even under demanding conditions.
The optional K100 quick boom change system allows the operator to switch between configurations without leaving the cab and without any manual work at height, significantly reducing downtime between project phases. Safety features include the Working Range Indicator with a full-colour graphical display and alerts, along with the robust Safety SpaceCab offering FOPS level 2 protection. KomVision provides a real-time bird's-eye view of the machine's surroundings on the cab monitor, supporting safe operation in confined demolition sites.
Operating a PC490HRD-11 requires a machine operator's licence for excavators, typically class M2. Hesselberg offers heavy equipment operator courses for certification and skills development. You can find the full range of Komatsu excavators at Hesselberg.
