Description
The PW148-11 is a compact wheeled excavator from Komatsu that combines trenching capacity with easy road travel, without the need for a low-bed trailer.
PW stands for Power Wheeled, meaning this is a wheeled excavator rather than a crawler. Unlike a crawler excavator which runs on steel tracks and is optimised for soft or uneven terrain, a wheeled excavator is at its best on asphalt and firm surfaces. With a top speed of 40 km/h, the PW148-11 can travel independently between jobsites, making it efficient for projects involving many short stops such as utility work, cable trenching and municipal infrastructure maintenance.
With an operating weight of 14,200 to 17,160 kg and a 110 kW Stage V engine, the machine delivers sufficient digging force and lifting capacity for daily construction work, while remaining more agile than larger models such as the PW158-11 and PW160-11. Where those models offer greater capacity for heavier tasks, the PW148-11 is often the right choice when mobility and accessibility matter most.
The HydrauMind closed-centre load-sensing hydraulic system automatically adjusts oil volume and pressure to match the load, providing smooth movement, precise control and stable lifting performance. The SpaceCab is ergonomically designed with good visibility, effective heating and air conditioning, making it a comfortable working environment year round.
You can find the full range of Komatsu excavators at Hesselberg. Operating the PW148-11 requires a machine operator's licence, typically class M2. Hesselberg offers heavy equipment operator courses for certification and skills development.
