Description
The PW168-11 is a further-developed wheeled excavator from Komatsu with an operating weight of 15,775 to 18,115 kg, featuring a new drive system and several structural improvements over its predecessors.
PW stands for Power Wheeled. 168 refers to the model's position in the 16-tonne segment. Despite the similar designation, the PW168-11 sits clearly above the PW158-11 in terms of stability and lifting capacity, and closer to the PW180-11 in actual working capacity.
The machine is powered by a 110 kW Stage V engine and equipped with the HydrauMind closed-centre load-sensing hydraulic system with a maximum flow of 295 l/min, providing good power reserve when using a tiltrotator or hydraulic attachments. With a maximum bucket capacity of 1.13 m³ it is well suited to larger trenches, foundation work and more extensive earthmoving than the smaller models in the range.
The PW168-11 also stands out with a number of practical and safety-oriented features. A retractable ladder provides safe access, four cameras with the KomVision 270° system improve all-round visibility, and KOMTRAX fleet monitoring with 4G communication supports remote machine management. The diesel particulate filter has a cleaning interval of up to 8,000 hours, reducing maintenance requirements and operational downtime.
Compared to the PW160-11, the PW168-11 offers greater operating weight and better lifting performance when working with outriggers and blades. At the same time it remains more compact and manageable than the PW180-11, making it a good fit for contractors who need extra capacity but still want the flexibility a wheeled excavator provides for road travel between jobsites.
You can find the full range of Komatsu excavators at Hesselberg. Operating the PW168-11 requires a machine operator's licence, typically class M2. Hesselberg offers heavy equipment operator courses for certification and skills development.
